Women Of Influence 2018 In This Issue

In March of every year, FunTimes Magazine features a select group of women for their contributions to society and their communities, particularly in recognition of Women's History Month. They are women who have been battle-tested through their personal and professional lives, driven to overcome and achieve.

"Some people may have greatness thrust upon them. Very few have excellence thrust upon them. They achieve it. They do not achieve it unwittingly, by 'doing what comes naturally'; and they don't stumble into it in the course of amusing themselves. All excellence involves discipline and tenacity of purpose."

- John William Gardner

They were gracious to tell us the stories of their journeys and of how they persevered through adversities – most of which were gender-driven and race-driven.

Some of the most salient commonalities you will notice are society's lack of recognition of their accomplishments, and lack of acceptance of their roles as leaders, most especially, as executives. One of the honorees, Oni Richards, puts it best. “Unfortunately being a competent leader is not one of the boxes we often get placed in…competence is overlooked because of the color of [our] skin. It can be tiring trying to make sure we have a seat at the table.”

In recognition of these women trailblazers, FunTimes Magazine is pleased to share their stories with you and we hope you can share them with others as well.
