Tiffany Haddish grew up in one of the poorest neighborhoods of South Central Los Angeles. She learned to survive by making people laugh. If she could do that, then her classmates would let her copy their homework, the other foster kids she lived with wouldn't beat her up, and she might even get a boyfriend. Tiffany can avoid being funny, this who she is as a person. Finally, with her new found fame, she has found her calling in life. She is a great comedian who came from the roughest part of the city and made her dreams come true. In her book “The Last Black Unicorn”, shows how she is a down to earth person we can relate to, and how to overcome struggles and laugh about it later.

My Niece loves this book! It resonates with her as she identifies herself with the main character. Keely hates her hair. She just wants to fit in with everyone else at school, but she can't. She believes that her big puffy hair is too kinky, too big, and too out of place. Keely is frustrated, and it's finally time to tell mom just how frustrated she is!

But mom knows a secret about Keely's hair that Keely doesn't know. Will her secret be enough to change Keely's mind? Representation matters and this book teaches young girls about loving and respecting the hair they're born with. This is a beautiful book with great illustrations that kids will love.

“Stay with Me” is a very emotional story that will force you to hold your tears back. Her writing is amazing, and you will feel drawn to the characters. This story shows how tradition and belief can test a man's character. Ayobami Adebayo wrote this story in a way that I couldn't pick a side. The woman often carries the shame and bears the burden of the family. Even with all the negative decisions, this story is a perfect pick for a book club. I won't spoil it for you. I loved this story, and I highly recommend you read this novel but remember you will have to hold your tears back.

“CharlamagneTha God” (Lenard McKelvey) is one of the cohosts of the nationally syndicated hip-hop iHeartRadio program,“The Breakfast Club”,and a television and media personality. He is also a social media influencer; an executive producer with his own production company, CThaGod World LLC; and cohost of the popular podcast Brilliant Idiots. Born and raised in a small town in South Carolina, Charlamagne quickly rose to become one of today's most unique and compelling media personalities. His point of view and provocative celebrity interviews help drive the daily national conversation about issues related to hip-hop, race, society, and politics.” Black Privilege” isn't your typical marketing or self-help book. Lenard, the author, uses very unorthodox language to help the reader understand, and to reach a certain audience; but I truly believe whatever your age, social status, background, etc., you can take something from this book to carry with you forever. While reading the book, there were certain things I felt like the author was speaking directly to me! This book is a great way to discuss many issues that we have to deal with today. This is one that I believe will be a classic for many!
