Oct 18, 2022 02:00PM ● By Boitumelo Masihleho

Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, so the saying goes, but we think brunch gives it a run for its money. A late-morning brunch meal, typically enjoyed between 10 am and noon is beloved by people all across the country. Whether you want a plate of classic brunch eggs benedict with mimosas, these Black-owned brunch spots offer the best brunch food for your own version of Sunday Brunch.

Hoover’s Cooking

Hoover Alexander’s roots run deep through Texas. A native East Austinite and a fifth-generation Texan, Hoover and his cooking are inspired by the state itself. In 2011, Hoover opened his first food trailer, The Soular Foods Garden, to bridge the gap between soulful cooking and fresh-from-the-garden food. Hoover has always associated food with bringing people together, and the delicious and distinct flavors on our menu strive to bring together the melting pot of cultures and people who make up this great state. Hoover’s Cooking is located in Austin, Texas.

Morrows

Nestled in the historic Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, LA - Morrow is a cosmopolitan restaurant founded in April 2018 by mother-son duo, Chef Lenora Chong and event curator Larry Morrow. What’s interesting about Morrows’ Sunday Brunch menu is that you will find both New Orleans’ classics and Korean dishes to pay homage to Chong and Morrow’s roots. You can’t go wrong with the gumbo ramen, redfish, and grits, or the crawfish mac and cheese. Morrows can be found in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Jazzy Fish & Chicken eventually became a restaurant reality starting in downtown Birmingham, Alabama as Yo’ Mama’s Restaurant, serving fresh meals made from scratch.
