A late-morning brunch meal, typically enjoyed between 10 am and noon is beloved by people all across the country. Whether you want a plate of classic brunch eggs benedict with mimosas, these Black-owned brunch spots offer the best brunch food for your own version of Sunday Brunch.
Hoover’s Cooking
Hoover Alexander’s roots run deep through Texas. A native East Austinite and a fifth-generation Texan, Hoover and his cooking are inspired by the state itself. In 2011, Hoover opened his first food trailer, The Soular Foods Garden, to bridge the gap between soulful cooking and fresh-from-the-garden food. Hoover has always associated food with bringing people together, and the delicious and distinct flavors on our menu strive to bring together the melting pot of cultures and people who make up this great state. Hoover’s Cooking is located in Austin, Texas.
Morrows
Nestled in the historic Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, LA - Morrow is a cosmopolitan restaurant founded in April 2018 by mother-son duo, Chef Lenora Chong and event curator Larry Morrow. What’s interesting about Morrows’ Sunday Brunch menu is that you will find both New Orleans’ classics and Korean dishes to pay homage to Chong and Morrow’s roots. You can’t go wrong with the gumbo ramen, redfish, and grits, or the crawfish mac and cheese. Morrows can be found in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Willie Mae’s Scotch House
Willie Mae’s Scotch House was established in 1957 as a bar in New Orleans’ historic Treme neighborhood. Willie Mae’s is widely considered to serve some of the best fried chicken anywhere in America. There are two locations to choose from in New Orleans. The historic location in Tremé opened in 1957, and the second location is in Pythian Market. Both locations are open during brunch hours on Saturday and Sunday. Willie Mae’s Scotch House received the James Beard Award in 2005 for “America’s Classic Restaurant for the Southern Region” and was named “America’s Best Fried Chicken” by the Food Network and the Travel Channel. This house is also located in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Yo Mama’s Restaurant
Yo’ Mama’s started as Jazzy Fish & Chicken down at the famous Seabreeze Jazz Festival in Destin and Panama City, Florida in 2007. Each year it was the most popular vendor with a fast-moving and seemingly endless line serving an average of 600 plates a day. Jazzy Fish & Chicken eventually became a restaurant reality starting in downtown Birmingham, Alabama as Yo’ Mama’s Restaurant, serving fresh meals made from scratch. Yo Mama’s Restaurant serves up a brunch menu on the second and last Saturday each month. The menu includes favorites like chicken and waffles, pancakes, and french toast.

Batter & Berries
Batter & Berries was founded by Dr. Tanya and Craig Richardson in 2012 as an eclectic breakfast, lunch, and brunch restaurant. This restaurant is popular so be sure to arrive early. “We simply want to provide you with delicious food, a fun, and uplifting atmosphere and serve you with joy,” say the couple on their website. “We take great pride in our menu consisting of freshly prepared items (yes we crack our own eggs & shred the potatoes daily) and collaborations with other local artisans, purveyors and craftspeople for a truly unique experience.” Batter & Berries is found in Chicago, Illinois.
The Breakfast Boys
Breakfast Boys is a daytime breakfast/brunch eatery, and "social scene" serving up "inventive" classics such as chicken sausage & french toast, jerk chicken with sweet potato waffles, and our boozy brunch cocktails. The atmosphere is top-notch with a vibrant color scheme and fun decorations throughout. The menu is also over-the-top with items like chicken and pancakes, lobster mac & cheese, and “the sweet chick” which is a breakfast sandwich on a croissant loaded with swiss cheese, chicken sausage, a fried egg, and the house jam with your choice of watermelon, breakfast potatoes, grits, or a salad on the side. This is located in College Park, Georgia.
The Breakfast Klub
The spirit and entrepreneurial mastermind behind the Breakfast Klub and Reggae Hut Café, Marcus Davis, is best known for his charismatic personality, authentic customer appreciation, and his tireless commitment to the communities he serves. Since opening in September of 2001, the Breakfast Klub has become a top tourist attraction, as well as the local favorite breakfast spot, lining up droves of cheerful patrons daily. It consistently receives rave reviews, including recognition as the best breakfast in the country by Good Morning America, USA Today, Esquire magazine, and Forbes magazine. Locally, the Breakfast Klub is touted by the Houston Press as the 2011 Readers Choice for best breakfast, winner of the 2011 My Table Culinary Award for favorite breakfast, and Best Of Citysearch 2011 winner in the breakfast category. Breakfast at Barney’s
Breakfast at Barney’s is a part brunch spot and part daytime social club which offers decadent comfort food in a highly designed and stylish atmosphere that is at the same time welcoming with great vibes, music, atmosphere, and the best service in the city. As for the menu, expect to find dishes like salmon croquettes and eggs, chicken and waffles, banana fosters french toast, a New York-style steak and eggs, and shrimp and grits. Owned by Morris Brown College alumni and friends “Barney” Lee Berry Jr. and Dr. Rashad Sanford, Breakfast at Barney’s combines “decadent Southern breakfast fare” with stylish design and music. “Our goal is to immediately transform every guest that passes through the doors of Barney’s taking them into a world of Black art, Black food, Black music, and Black service delivered in our unique way,” said the owners. Breakfast at Barney’s can be found in Atlanta, Georgia.
