Dialetical Skills for Living Life Fully

w/ Christine Denerio

This 8 week module meets online via Zoom The skills taught in this course are those used in Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), developed by famed psychologist Marsha Linehan. As Linehan developed DBT, she drew on mulitple sources in the tradition of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but also drew from Buddhism in the development of the Mindfulness skills that inform the other three skills modules (Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness). Dialetical skills are all about balance' balance of doing and being, balance of acceptance and change, and balance of rationality and emotion. Module 1: Distress Tolerance (8 weeks) September 12 - November 7 Why learn the dialetical skills of Distress Tolerance? Because into every life comes the occasional crisis. Distress Tolerance skills allow us to survive a crisis without making it worse, while also encouraging acceptance of reality, even when reality is not what we want it to be. The outcome of effective distress tolerance is liberation from the "shoulds" that lead to discontentment in life. In other words, distress tolerance promotes internal peace. Module 2: Emotion Regulation (8 Weeks) January 23, 2023 - March 13, 2023 Module 3: Interpersonal Effectiveness (8 Weeks) April 17 2023 - June 12, 2023 8 Week Series: $300 Register Here Drop In: $40
