The right subscription service will be a game changer for all of your long-term health goals, not to mention, they’ll save you lots of time in the kitchen. Whether you're looking for the delicious taste of a home-cooked meal after a long day of Zoom meetings or you simply want to avoid a trip to the grocery store, these Black-owned meal-delivery businesses will have your tummy smiling.
Rebel Chef Meals was created by Ashley Hernandez, who took an interest in how food can be used for healing after recovering from a car accident that forced her to take an extended leave of absence from her job. Rebel Chef Meals offers meal prep options in Atlanta for literally everyone: meat eaters, vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians. Whether you’d like to lean out on a plant-based diet or satisfy your sweet tooth, they have it all. The company offers pickup of meal packages at various locations around the city every Sunday and offers snacks starting at $7 and meals starting at $11. Hernandez calls herself a Rebel because she is not your average chef. Instead of going to culinary school, she decided to get her Masters in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from The University of Florida. She is a businesswoman first and chef second.

Fit Chef Toronto is focused on helping customers with meal prep and delivery options that meet their dietary needs. Think gluten-free, vegan, low carb, and beyond. Chigumira knows that flavor is essential to her customers. “Our mission is to improve your health and wellbeing through our delicious and nutritious meal service,” she says. “As a society, we are more health-conscious than ever before; but lack the time to prepare these healthy meals. We want to make sure that no matter how busy a schedule you have, your nutrition will not get put on the back burners.” Popular menu items include Thai, Greek, Jamaican, Italian, and American dishes. Fit Chef Toronto uniquely gives customers the option to text their favorite dishes to their chef to keep on rotation, and orders come in sets of 6, 10, 15, and 20 meals.

MealZac is all about feeding the soul. Created and founded by chef Thomas Mulzac, the catering business services New York City and neighboring areas, whipping up everything from collard green artichoke dip and spinach-stuffed salmon to lavender cake and fried rice and dumplings. “During my freshman year of college, I surrendered to my long-standing allure to food. I turned my childhood dream into something tangible while also making respect for our planet, and our bodies my top priority,” says Mulzac. “What started as the first mobilization of soul food dish flavors, has become a hub of inspiring food products, gadgets, and recipes all intended to feed your soul.”
